Big Wheels Keep On Turning

My wheels!

Me and My Wheels!

Proud Lula keep on rolling. And we’re rolling, rolling…..

My wheels have arrived!!!! Thanks to all of my wonderful friends, we were able to raise the money to purchase my wheels, a second ramp and we got a hip harness (my Orvis hip harness is the gold/yellow on top of my back and hips).

My wheels arrived on Monday and with the help of my friend, Paul, they were built and I tried them out Monday night in the dark. I flew!!! Pam had to walk double time to keep up. Each day I have been out for at least one walk with my wheels and we are working on perfecting the fit.

Digging!

Coolest thing - I can dig! I used to fall over when I really went to town digging. Now I can dig. Little did Pam know I was after a prize here. I found a big, flat, frozen squirrel that I refused to give up! I carried him all the way home and waited until Pam got the good liver treats before I would drop him!

Today we made lots of adjustments during the walk and I did not always like them. Kind of wish Pam would just leave it alone and let me walk!!!! I heard her say tonight she is going to read the instruction manual and watch the video and see if she can maybe find the right configuration. Frankly I like the way she had them first! Loose under my hips and just there to catch me if my right leg gave out! But she and Sue think I need to have some of my weight off my back legs so we tried that today and I wasn’t as fast or as happy. We are going ask Dr. Dennis what he thinks! I hope he is on my side!

Here is a video of me walking/rolling yesterday (when I liked the fit!)

Also I am seeing a VSM (doggie chiropractor) and acupuncturist. I have my second appointment tomorrow. I must say I am not so happy about this new development. I was not super cooperative the first time although she found lots of tight muscles and things out of whack. We are going to give it a few tries and see if I might benefit. FYI – I don’t think much of needles! I am not a good pincushion!! I’ll keep you posted on that one! Frankly I like the car ride there and back but not so keen on the actual appointment! Good thing she is patient and understanding!

BSLK’s (Big Sloppy Lula Kisses) to all of my friends who contributed to my wheels, ramp and my VSM appointments and to Jaime and family for my harness. I have the best friends in the world. I am one lucky bear! As many have commented from watching my videos, my tail has never wagged so much! Walking is truly my favorite pastime (well besides eating) and these wheels make it so much easier! Thank You!!!!

We’ll keep posting videos to YouTube and hopefully longer ones as Pam now has it figured out!

Those are some mighty fine wheels Lula!

    • Thanks very much. I am getting used to them now that Pam has them properly fitted so more than “training wheels” She know has them holding most of my weight so my back legs can move without the weight. Hopefully that will improve my muscle tone!
