Why does your dog have wheels?

Last week Pam and I were out for a walk and we encountered one of our newer neighbors, a little boy about 4 or 5 years old. He was getting out of the car and walking to his house as we were approaching his house on the sidewalk.

Crusing around in my wheels

Cruising around in my wheels (don't have my "shoes" on in this picture, they are bright yellow!)

The little boy stopped and looked at me very intrigued and then looked at Pam and asked “Why does your dog have wheels?”

Pam replied “She has bad back legs and they help her walk.”

He nodded and thought for a second and looked at me more and asked “Why does your dog have shoes?”

Pam replied “Because she gets sore feet.”

He contemplated that for a few seconds and then asked “Well, then why are you walking her??”

Pam laughed and said “I don’ know, I guess because she likes to walk.”

Taking a break

Taking a short break and soaking up the sights and the sun!

He still seemed puzzled but accepted Pam’s answer and went in the house!

Whew… I am glad he isn’t part of my staff or I won’t be allowed to leave the house and I certainly won’t have gotten my new set of wheels!

Speaking of my wheels, I was just featured on the web site of my wheels’ manufacturer, Walkin’ Wheels with a little story about me and my photo!!! There are lots of other cool stories on there about dogs who are much more disabled than I am and it really is inspiring how much these dogs can do with their wheels. Check out the stories about Duke and Dex!

  1. Hunter says:

I need to get myself some wheels! Not because I need them, but I’d sure like all the attention!

  2. Silly Hunter, you wouldn’t be able to fly through the air with wheels!!! You already have wings – you don’t need wheels! You can come walking with me and I will share the attention with you – as long as there are enough hands to pet me too!
