About Lula

My feet and legs are so big I can wear Pam's running socks! Plus they protect what is left of my back toenails!
Lula is a 9-10 yr old, 115 pound, female Chesapeake Bay Retriever with a few medical issues and quite a personality. First her ongoing medical issues:
- Hip dysplacia – quite advanced in both hips
- Ruptured Anterior Cruciate Ligaments in both back legs
- Incontinence – a rather common problem in spayed female dogs
Other issues she has either struggled with since November of 2009 or is currently being treated for
- Lymes Disease
- Giardia
- Bacterial and Yeast infections in both ears – resulting in some temporary, we hope, hearing loss
Needless to say her “medical basket” is full and luckily she likes ANYTHING with peanut butter on it! Currently the Chessie Rescue of WI is taking care of her medical expenses and has set up a special fund so we can keep Miss Lula as happy and comfy as we can for as long as we can. Lula’s Medical Fund
Lula has quite a personality which you will learn about as you read her ever entertaining encounters and antics.
About the Chesapeake Retriever Rescue of Wisconsin (www.crrow.org)
Our Organization – Chesapeake Rescue of WI is a group of volunteers dedicated to rescuing Chesapeake Retrievers and finding them loving forever homes. We rescue adoptable purebred or mixed Chesapeake Retrievers from shelters, strays, and from owners who can no longer care for their dogs. We are staunch promoters of spaying and neutering, and no dog is placed by our organization without this being done before placement.
Owners wanting to surrender their dog will be asked to have them spayed or neutered and brought up to date on their vaccinations. Owners must also sign a form giving us all rights to the dog at time of surrender, as well as a release to obtain all of the dog’s medical files.
ADOPTION PROCESS – Adopters will be asked to fill out an application. We will then do a phone interview and set up a home visit. From there we will begin the process of matching a dog to the needs of that particular family. After a successful match is found, adopter will be asked to sign an adoption contract and pay an adoption fee, which will cover the spay or neuter, updating all vaccinations and HW testing and shelter release fee, if applicable.
